CVE-2026-0844 is a high-severity privilege escalation vulnerability affecting the Simple User Registration plugin for WordPress, versions up to and including 6.7. Authenticated attackers with low-level permissions, such as subscribers, can exploit insufficient restrictions in the 'profile_save_field' function to modify their user role by manipulating the 'wp_capabilities' parameter during a profile update. This allows for complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. While the CVSS score is 8.8, there is currently no public exploit code available (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), nor is it listed on the KEV catalog, indicating no active exploitation. Community discussion and media coverage are also minimal.
