CVE-2025-20146 is a denial of service vulnerability in Cisco IOS XR Software affecting Cisco ASR 9000 Series, ASR 9902, and ASR 9903 routers. It stems from incorrect handling of malformed IPv4 multicast packets on line cards with IPv4 ACLs or QoS policies applied. An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit this by sending crafted packets, causing line card resets and traffic loss. The vulnerability has a CVSS score of 8.6 (High), indicating a network-based attack with low complexity and high impact on availability. There is no confidentiality or integrity impact. Currently, there is no evidence of active exploitation, and no public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB) is available. While there is limited community discussion and media coverage, Cisco has released patches for this and other vulnerabilities.
