CVE-2024-9666

15
FAUCET Score

CVE-2024-9666 describes a Denial of Service (DoS) vulnerability in Keycloak Server, specifically when configured to accept incoming proxy headers without proper validation. An attacker can exploit this by sending non-IP values in proxy headers, triggering costly DNS resolution operations that consume IO threads and lead to a DoS. Rated Medium (CVSS 4.7), this vulnerability requires the attacker to send requests to a Keycloak instance configured to trust proxy headers that are not overwritten by reverse proxies. There is currently no known active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion surrounding this CVE.
