CVE-2024-9501 describes a critical authentication bypass vulnerability in all versions up to and including 3.0.7 of the Wp Social Login and Register Social Counter plugin for WordPress. This flaw stems from insufficient verification of social login tokens, allowing unauthenticated attackers to log in as any existing user, including administrators, provided they know the user's email and the user doesn't already have an account with the social service. With a CVSS score of 9.8 (CRITICAL), this vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with low complexity and no user interaction, leading to complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage surrounding this CVE.
