CVE-2024-52292 is a medium-severity arbitrary file read vulnerability affecting Craft CMS versions prior to 5.4.9 and 4.12.8. An authenticated attacker with write permissions to system notification templates can exploit the dataUrl function to read arbitrary files from the server. This is achieved by embedding the function in a template, triggering an email notification containing the Base64-encoded file content, and then decoding it. There is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion surrounding this vulnerability.
