CVE-2024-50592 is a local privilege escalation vulnerability affecting the Elefant Update Service, allowing an attacker with local access to a medical office computer to gain NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM privileges. This is achieved by exploiting a race condition (CWE-367) during the repair or update process, where an attacker can replace executables in a user-writable directory before they are run with SYSTEM privileges.
