CVE-2024-23322 describes a denial-of-service vulnerability in Envoy proxy versions prior to 1.29.1, 1.28.1, 1.27.3, and 1.26.7. The flaw allows an attacker to crash the Envoy service when specific timeout configurations (hedge_on_per_try_timeout, per_try_idle_timeout, and per-try-timeout) are simultaneously enabled and their values align. With a CVSS score of 7.5 (High), this vulnerability has a low attack complexity and does not require user interaction or privileges, making it easily exploitable over the network to achieve a complete denial of service. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity. Currently, there is no evidence of active exploitation, publicly available exploit code, or significant community discussion surrounding this CVE. Users are strongly advised to upgrade to patched versions as no workarounds exist.
