CVE-2023-48692 is a critical remote code execution (RCE) vulnerability affecting Microsoft Azure RTOS NetX Duo, a TCP/IP stack for embedded and IoT devices. This memory overflow flaw, present in versions 6.2.1 and below, impacts various network protocols including ICMP, TCP, SNMP, DHCP, NAT, and FTP. With a CVSS score of 9.8 (Critical), it allows unauthenticated attackers to achieve full compromise (confidentiality, integrity, availability) over the network with low attack complexity. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion, but users are strongly advised to upgrade to NetX Duo release 6.3.0 as no workarounds exist.
