CVE-2023-4680 is a medium-severity vulnerability affecting HashiCorp Vault and Vault Enterprise versions 1.6.0 through 1.14.2, 1.13.0 through 1.13.6, and 1.12.0 through 1.12.10. It allows authorized users of the transit secrets engine to specify arbitrary nonces, even when convergent encryption is disabled. This flaw, rated with a CVSS score of 6.8, could enable an attacker to decrypt arbitrary ciphertext and potentially derive the authentication subkey through an offline attack.
