CVE-2023-40593 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting Splunk Enterprise versions prior to 9.0.6 and 8.2.12, as well as Splunk Cloud Platform. An unauthenticated attacker can trigger a Splunk daemon crash or hang by sending a specially crafted SAML request to the /saml/acs REST endpoint. With a CVSS score of 7.5 (High), this vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with low complexity and no user interaction, leading to high availability impact.
