CVE-2023-36638 is an improper privilege management vulnerability (CWE-269) affecting FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer versions 7.2.0-7.2.2, 7.0.0-7.0.7, and 6.4.0-6.4.11, as well as all 6.2 and 6.0 versions. A remote, authenticated API admin user can exploit this by using a stolen GUI session ID to access sensitive system settings, such as mail server configurations, via the API. Rated Medium severity (CVSS 4.3), this vulnerability has a network attack vector with low attack complexity, requiring low privileges and no user interaction, but only impacts integrity (I:L) with no confidentiality or availability impact.
