CVE-2023-29206 describes a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in XWiki Commons, affecting XWiki products. Previously, users with only Edit rights could inject malicious JavaScript or StyleSheet xobjects into XWiki documents, which would then execute with the privileges of a higher-privileged user viewing the document. This medium-severity vulnerability (CVSS 5.4) has a low attack complexity and requires user interaction, potentially leading to limited impact on confidentiality and integrity. The issue was patched in XWiki 14.9-rc-1 by enforcing script rights for xobject authors. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion surrounding this CVE.
