CVE-2023-28366 describes a memory leak vulnerability in Eclipse Mosquitto versions 1.3.2 through 2.0.15. This flaw allows a remote attacker to trigger a denial-of-service condition by sending numerous QoS 2 messages with duplicate message IDs and failing to acknowledge PUBREC commands, stemming from mishandling of the libc send function's EAGAIN return. With a CVSS score of 7.5 (High), this vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with low complexity and no user interaction, leading to high availability impact. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion surrounding this CVE.
