CVE-2023-0853 describes a critical buffer overflow vulnerability in the mDNS NSEC record processing of specific Canon Office/Small Office Multifunction Printers and Laser Printers, including various Satera, Color imageCLASS, and i-SENSYS models with firmware version 11.04 and earlier. This flaw allows an unauthenticated attacker on the same network segment to trigger a denial of service or execute arbitrary code on affected devices. With a CVSS score of 9.8 (CRITICAL), the vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with low attack complexity, leading to high impacts on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
