CVE-2023-0751

22
FAUCET Score

CVE-2023-0751 describes a vulnerability in FreeBSD's GELI disk encryption where, when reading a key file from standard input, subsequent devices silently use a NULL key if multiple providers are initialized simultaneously. This allows for trivial recovery of the master key if only a key file (without a passphrase) is used. The vulnerability has a CVSS v3.1 score of 6.5 (Medium), indicating it can be exploited remotely with low complexity to achieve high confidentiality impact. Currently, there is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
