CVE-2022-50488

24
FAUCET Score

CVE-2022-50488 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's block layer (BFQ I/O scheduler), specifically affecting the 'bfqq->bic' component. This flaw occurs due to improper handling of shared queues and block I/O contexts when processes are moved between cgroups, leading to a situation where a block I/O context (BIC) can be freed while still referenced by a block I/O queue (bfqq). Rated 7.8 HIGH on CVSS, this vulnerability has a local attack vector with low complexity, allowing an authenticated attacker to achieve high confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion surrounding this CVE.
