CVE-2022-49093

22
FAUCET Score

CVE-2022-49093 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's skbuff page_pool fragment recycling mechanism, specifically affecting the hns3 driver during normal RX operations. This flaw occurs when coalescing SKBs (socket buffers) that share page references, leading to an underflow of page references and premature freeing of memory. Rated with a CVSS score of 7.8 (High), this vulnerability has a local attack vector with low attack complexity, allowing an authenticated local attacker to achieve high confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts, potentially causing IOMMU faults or silent memory corruption. Currently, there is no evidence of active exploitation, publicly available exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage surrounding this CVE.
