CVE-2022-4608 is a high-severity vulnerability (CVSS 7.5) affecting specific versions of Hitachi Energy RTU500 series products when configured with HCI IEC 60870-5-104 and IEC 62351-3 support. It is a stack overflow that leads to an unexpected device restart after a session resumption interval expires and the RTU500 initiates a session parameter update. This vulnerability can be exploited remotely without authentication, resulting in a denial-of-service impact. There is currently no public exploit code available, nor is there evidence of active exploitation or significant community discussion.
