CVE-2022-41290 is a high-severity local privilege escalation vulnerability affecting IBM AIX versions 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, and VIOS 3.1. A non-privileged local user can exploit a flaw in the rm_rlcache_file command to gain root privileges. With a CVSS score of 8.4, this vulnerability is easily exploitable with low attack complexity and no user interaction, leading to complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. There is currently no public exploit code available, nor is there evidence of active exploitation, and it has received minimal community discussion or media coverage.
