CVE-2022-33985 is a Time-of-Check-Time-of-Use (TOCTOU) vulnerability affecting Insyde kernel versions 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, and 5.5. An attacker with local access could exploit this flaw by targeting input buffers used by the NvmExpressDxe software SMI handler with DMA transactions, leading to System Management Random Access Memory (SMRAM) corruption. With a CVSS score of 7.0 (High), this vulnerability has a high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability, but requires high attack complexity.
