CVE-2022-33982 describes a Time-of-Check to Time-of-Use (TOCTOU) vulnerability affecting the Int15ServiceSmm software SMI handler in Insyde Kernels. This flaw allows for DMA attacks on the parameter buffer, potentially leading to corruption of System Management RAM (SMRAM). With a CVSS score of 6.4 (Medium), exploitation requires high privileges and high attack complexity, but could result in full compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. There is currently no public exploit code available, nor is there evidence of active exploitation or significant community discussion surrounding this vulnerability. Insyde has released patches for affected Kernel versions 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, and 5.5.
