CVE-2022-2928 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting ISC DHCP versions 4.4.0 through 4.4.3 and 4.1-ESV-R1 through 4.1-ESV-R16-P1, including various Debian and Fedora packages. The vulnerability stems from an unhandled increment of an option's reference count during lease query responses, which can eventually lead to an integer overflow and server abortion. With a CVSS score of 6.5 (Medium), it can be exploited by an unauthenticated attacker on the adjacent network with low attack complexity, resulting in high availability impact. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion surrounding this CVE.
