CVE-2022-22176 is an Improper Validation of Syntactic Correctness of Input vulnerability in the Juniper DHCP daemon (jdhcpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS, affecting numerous versions from 13.2R1 up to 21.2R2. An adjacent, unauthenticated attacker can exploit this by sending a malformed DHCP packet, particularly when option-82 is configured for DHCP snooping/security. This results in a crash of jdhcpd, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) for DHCP services. The vulnerability has a CVSS score of 6.5 (Medium) due to its low attack complexity and high impact on availability, requiring physical or logical proximity to the network. Currently, there is no known active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage surrounding this CVE.
