CVE-2022-2196

28
FAUCET Score

CVE-2022-2196 is a high-severity regression in the Linux Kernel's KVM: nVMX component, affecting Debian and other Linux distributions. It enables L2 guests to perform Spectre v2 speculative execution attacks on the L1 host, due to KVM incorrectly advertising eIBRS support. An attacker with L2 code execution can execute code on the host machine, leading to a complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. There is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion surrounding this vulnerability.
