CVE-2020-8540 is a critical XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability affecting Zoho ManageEngine Desktop Central versions prior to the March 7, 2020 update. This flaw allows unauthenticated remote attackers to read arbitrary files or perform Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) attacks by submitting a specially crafted DTD within an XML request. With a CVSS score of 9.8, this vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with no user interaction, leading to high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Despite its severity, there is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
