CVE-2020-6842 describes a critical vulnerability in D-Link DCH-M225 1.05b01 and earlier devices, allowing remote authenticated administrators to execute arbitrary OS commands. This high-severity flaw (CVSS 7.2) stems from improper input validation, where shell metacharacters in the media renderer name can be exploited. While requiring prior authentication, successful exploitation grants an attacker full control over the device, leading to high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, and no public exploit code or significant community discussion has been observed.
