CVE-2020-1722

15
FAUCET Score

CVE-2020-1722 describes a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting FreeIPA versions 4.x.x through 4.8.0, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux and FreeIPA products. An attacker can exploit this by sending an extremely long password (>= 1,000,000 characters) to the server, causing memory and CPU exhaustion during the password hashing process. This leads to system unresponsiveness and a denial of service, with a CVSS score of 5.3 (Medium) due to high availability impact and high attack complexity. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage surrounding this vulnerability.
