CVE-2019-9949 is a high-severity code execution vulnerability affecting several Western Digital My Cloud NAS devices running firmware older than 2.31.183. It allows a low-privilege attacker to achieve root-level code execution by exploiting a symlink vulnerability in the cgi-bin/webfile_mgr.cgi file, specifically through unsanitized input to the "cgi_untar" command. This flaw enables arbitrary file writes, leading to full compromise of the device. Despite its high CVSS score of 8.8, there is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion surrounding this vulnerability.
