18
FAUCET Score

CVE-2019-9755 is an integer underflow vulnerability in ntfs-3g versions prior to 2017.3.23, affecting products like Red Hat and Tuxera. A local attacker can exploit this by running /bin/ntfs-3g with specially crafted arguments from a malicious directory, leading to a heap buffer overflow. This could result in a crash, arbitrary code execution, or local privilege escalation if /bin/ntfs-3g is a setuid-root binary. Rated with a CVSS score of 7.0 (HIGH), the attack requires low privileges and high attack complexity, but has high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. There is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion surrounding this vulnerability.

Dec 14, 2021
microsoft2019-Jun/CVE-2019-9755Important

An integer underflow issue exists in ntfs-3g 2017.3.23. A local attacker could potentially exploit this by running /bin/ntfs-3g with specially crafted arguments from a specially crafted directory to cause a heap buffer overflow resulting in a crash or the ability to execute arbitrary code. In installations where /bin/ntfs-3g is a setuid-root binary this could lead to a local escalation of privileges.
