CVE-2019-8319 is a command injection vulnerability affecting D-Link DIR-878 devices running firmware 1.12A1. This flaw allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary operating system commands and gain a root shell by sending a crafted POST request to the /HNAP1 endpoint. The vulnerability arises when untrusted input, specifically shell metacharacters in the Gateway field of the SetStaticRouteIPv4Settings API function, is passed to the system function.
