CVE-2019-7630 describes a critical vulnerability in the gdrv.sys driver within Gigabyte APP Center versions prior to 19.0227.1. This flaw allows attackers to write to arbitrary Model Specific Registers (MSRs) due to improper filtering of the wrmsr instruction exposed via IOCTL 0xC3502580. This can lead to Ring-0 code execution and a complete escalation of privileges on affected systems. With a CVSS score of 7.2 (HIGH), the vulnerability is remotely exploitable with low attack complexity, but requires high privileges. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion surrounding this CVE.
