CVE-2019-6496 describes a critical vulnerability in the ThreadX-based firmware of several Marvell Avastar Wi-Fi devices (models 88W8787, 88W8797, 88W8801, 88W8897, and 88W8997). This flaw allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service by sending specially crafted Wi-Fi packets during network discovery. With a CVSS score of 8.8 (High), the vulnerability is easily exploitable over an adjacent network with low attack complexity, potentially leading to full compromise of the Wi-Fi device and, in some cases, the host application processor.
