CVE-2019-18928 is a critical privilege escalation vulnerability affecting Cyrus IMAP versions 2.5.x before 2.5.14 and 3.x before 3.0.12, as well as various distributions of Debian and Fedora. It allows an attacker to gain elevated privileges by exploiting how the server interprets HTTP requests within existing authenticated connections. With a CVSS score of 9.8, this vulnerability presents a severe risk due to its network-based attack vector, low attack complexity, and high potential for impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Despite its critical severity, there is currently no public exploit code available (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), it is not listed in CISA's KEV catalog, and it has received minimal community discussion or media coverage.
