CVE-2019-1543

27
FAUCET Score

CVE-2019-1543 describes a vulnerability in OpenSSL versions 1.1.1 through 1.1.1b and 1.1.0 through 1.1.0j, where the ChaCha20-Poly1305 AEAD cipher can be misused by applications. Specifically, if an application sets a nonce length greater than 12 bytes and modifies the leading, ignored bytes, it can inadvertently reuse nonces, leading to serious confidentiality and integrity attacks. The CVSS score is 7.4 (HIGH), indicating a network-based attack with high impact on confidentiality and integrity, but requiring high attack complexity. There is no known active exploitation, publicly available exploit code, or significant community discussion surrounding this vulnerability.
