CVE-2018-3833 describes a firmware downgrade vulnerability in Insteon Hub (firmware version 1013 and earlier) where the device retrieves firmware updates over unencrypted HTTP and lacks version checking, allowing an attacker to force an older, potentially vulnerable firmware. This high-severity vulnerability (CVSS 7.5) can be exploited remotely with low complexity to compromise the integrity of the device by impersonating the update server. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage surrounding this CVE.
