CVE-2018-18729 describes a critical heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the web server (httpd) of several Tenda AC series routers, including AC7, AC9, AC10, AC15, and AC18. This flaw allows an unauthenticated attacker to remotely execute arbitrary code or leak sensitive information by sending a crafted POST request with an oversized 'mac' parameter, which is directly copied to a heap-allocated buffer. With a CVSS score of 9.8 (CRITICAL), the vulnerability has a low attack complexity and no user interaction required, leading to high impacts on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage surrounding this CVE.
