CVE-2018-14629 is a denial of service vulnerability affecting Samba's LDAP server in versions prior to 4.7.12, 4.8.7, and 4.9.3, as well as various Canonical and Debian Linux distributions. An unprivileged local attacker can exploit a CNAME loop to trigger infinite recursion, leading to a denial of service. With a CVSS score of 6.5 (Medium), this vulnerability has a network attack vector and low attack complexity, resulting in high availability impact. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
