CVE-2018-1296 describes a vulnerability in Apache Hadoop versions 3.0.0-alpha1 to 3.0.0, 2.9.0, 2.8.0 to 2.8.3, and 2.5.0 to 2.7.5. This flaw allows an attacker to disclose extended attribute key/value pairs in HDFS by only having search access to a directory, bypassing the requirement for read permission to the actual file. With a CVSS score of 7.5 (HIGH), this vulnerability presents a significant risk for information disclosure (C:H) without requiring user interaction or complex attack vectors. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion surrounding this CVE.
