CVE-2018-1218

42
FAUCET Score

CVE-2018-1218 describes a buffer overflow vulnerability in the 'nsrd' daemon of Dell EMC NetWorker versions prior to 9.2.1.1, 9.1.1.6, 9.0.x, and 8.2.4.11. This flaw allows a remote, unauthenticated attacker to trigger a denial of service (DoS) by sending specially crafted messages. With a CVSS score of 7.5 (HIGH), the vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with no user interaction required, leading to a complete loss of availability for affected NetWorker systems. While not actively exploited in the wild and lacking Metasploit or Nuclei modules, a public exploit (EDB-44332) exists, though there is minimal community discussion or media coverage.
