CVE-2018-11196 describes a vulnerability in Mahara versions 17.04 prior to 17.04.8, 17.10 prior to 17.10.5, and 18.04 prior to 18.04.1, where malicious files embedded in Leap2A archives bypass ClamAV scanning and can be uploaded. This allows Mahara to be used as a medium for transmitting viruses to user computers, although the files cannot be executed on Mahara itself. The vulnerability has a CVSS score of 7.5 (HIGH), indicating a network-exploitable flaw with low attack complexity and high integrity impact, but no confidentiality or availability impact.
