CVE-2018-0277 describes a denial-of-service vulnerability in Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), ISE Express, and ISE Virtual Appliance. This flaw stems from incomplete input validation of client EAP-TLS certificates during EAP authentication. An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit this by presenting a crafted EAP-TLS certificate, causing the ISE application server to unexpectedly restart. The CVSS score of 8.6 (High) reflects the network-based attack vector, low attack complexity, and high impact on availability. While no public exploit code or active exploitation has been observed, and community discussion is minimal, the vulnerability could lead to persistent service disruption if an attacker repeatedly triggers the server restart.
