CVE-2017-9945 describes a Denial-of-Service (DoS) vulnerability in Siemens 7KM PAC Switched Ethernet PROFINET expansion modules (all versions prior to V2.1.3). An attacker on the local network can send a specially crafted PROFINET DCP broadcast packet, causing the module to become unresponsive and require a manual restart of the main device. This vulnerability has a CVSS v3 score of 6.5 (Medium), indicating a low attack complexity and no user interaction required, but it only impacts availability. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage surrounding this CVE.
