CVE-2017-6166 describes a denial-of-service vulnerability in F5 BIG-IP LTM, AAM, AFM, Analytics, APM, ASM, DNS, Link Controller, PEM, and WebSafe software versions 12.0.0 to 12.1.1. This flaw allows an unauthenticated attacker to crash the Traffic Management Microkernel (TMM) by sending specially crafted fragmented packets to a virtual server configured with a FastL4 profile. The attack has high impact on availability, as TMM restarts, disrupting traffic and potentially triggering a failover in device groups, but requires high attack complexity. There is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage surrounding this CVE.
