CVE-2017-5381 is a high-severity path traversal vulnerability in Mozilla Firefox versions prior to 51. It allows an attacker to force the Certificate Viewer's "export" function to save certificate content to arbitrary locations on the local filesystem with an attacker-controlled filename. This is achieved by embedding slashes in the common name field of a malicious certificate. The vulnerability has a CVSSv3 score of 7.5 (High), indicating a network-exploitable flaw with low attack complexity that can lead to high integrity impact without requiring user interaction.
