CVE-2017-4937

24
FAUCET Score

CVE-2017-4937 is an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in the JPEG2000 parser (TPView.dll) affecting VMware Workstation (12.x before 12.5.8) and Horizon View Client for Windows (4.x before 4.6.1). This flaw, with a CVSS score of 7.8 (High), allows a guest or View desktop to execute code or cause a Denial of Service on the host Windows OS, but only if virtual printing is enabled. While not enabled by default in Workstation, virtual printing is a default setting for Horizon View Client, increasing its exposure. Despite its severity, there is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
