CVE-2017-4912 describes multiple out-of-bounds read vulnerabilities in the TrueType Font parser within TPView.dll, affecting VMware Workstation (prior to 12.5.3) and Horizon View Client (prior to 4.4.0). This vulnerability, rated 7.8 HIGH, allows a guest or View desktop to execute code or cause a Denial of Service on the host Windows OS, but only if virtual printing is enabled. While not enabled by default in Workstation, it is enabled by default in Horizon View, increasing its attack surface there. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion surrounding this CVE.
