CVE-2017-4909 is a heap buffer-overflow vulnerability in the TrueType Font parser (TPView.dll) affecting VMware Workstation (prior to 12.5.3) and Horizon View Client (prior to 4.4.0). With a CVSSv3 score of 7.8 (High), this vulnerability allows a guest or View desktop to execute code or perform a Denial of Service on the host Windows OS, but only if virtual printing is enabled. While not enabled by default in Workstation, it is enabled by default in Horizon View. There is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage for this CVE.
