CVE-2017-3882

24
FAUCET Score

CVE-2017-3882 is a critical buffer overflow vulnerability in the Universal Plug-and-Play (UPnP) implementation of the Cisco CVR100W Wireless-N VPN Router, affecting all firmware versions prior to 1.0.1.22. This flaw allows an unauthenticated, Layer 2-adjacent attacker to achieve arbitrary code execution with root privileges or cause a denial of service by sending a malicious UPnP request. With a CVSS score of 9.6 (CRITICAL), it presents a high risk due to its adjacent attack vector, low attack complexity, and complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. While there is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or Metasploit/Nuclei modules, the vulnerability has garnered some community discussion and media coverage.
