CVE-2017-3863 describes multiple buffer overflow vulnerabilities in the EnergyWise module of Cisco IOS and IOS XE software. An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit these by sending crafted IPv4 EnergyWise packets, leading to a denial of service (DoS) condition through device reload or buffer overflow. With a CVSS score of 8.6 (HIGH), this vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with low attack complexity and no user interaction required, resulting in high availability impact.
