CVE-2017-16653

22
FAUCET Score

CVE-2017-16653 describes a Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) vulnerability in Symfony versions prior to 2.7.38, 2.8.31, 3.2.14, 3.3.13, 3.4-BETA5, and 4.0-BETA5, affecting Debian and SensioLabs Symfony products. The flaw stems from Symfony's CSRF protection not differentiating between HTTP and HTTPS tokens, allowing a Man-in-the-Middle (MITM) attacker to steal a token over HTTP and then use it to perform CSRF attacks in an HTTPS context. Rated as Medium severity (CVSS 5.9), this vulnerability has a high confidentiality impact with network attack vector and high attack complexity. There is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
